Specialized Laboratory Unit ‐ Laboratory for Seismic Testing

DESCRIPTION

The Laboratory for seismic testing conducts experimental studies on the earthquake safety of various types of buildings. Experimental research on the effects of earthquakes on buildings is of great importance and aims to reduce or eliminate the consequences of earthquakes on buildings, minimize production and market losses, and reduce the number of human casualties by designing and constructing earthquake-resistant buildings. The equipment available at Laboratory for seismic testing is unique in Croatia, but also in the wider region.

The Laboratory also conducts research into the resistance of structures and various materials to shock loads. In addition to testing materials and structures used in construction, the impact tower can also be used to test various types of structures and materials used in the transportation of certain goods (packaging of certain products, etc.).

The most important Laboratory equipment is:

  • Shake table for earthquake simulation

  • System for modal parameters identification
  • Optical measuring system for 3D measurement of displacements and deformations
  • Universal hydraulic system for precise load application
  • Data acquisition system (> 100 channels)
