Summerworkshop [übergänge] _ 10 th Anniversary
Under the guidance of architect Sasa Bradic 23 students from the University of Tech-nology Vienna, the Acadamy of Fine Arts Munich and The University of Art and Design Linz, developed architectural concepts for the region of Istria. All took part in a nine-day workshop centered on the historic settlement of Motovun.
After a post-editing period, the finalised projects will be presented in a one-week exhi-bition at the University of Technology in Split and then in Vienna too. From these, a number of selected projects will be published in a new Übergänge catalogue.
The program is about a new development strategy for the region of Istria, as well as the survey of functional aspects of housing, work, tourism, leisure and culture. A main aim of the workshop was to define the space density through new programmatic, inno-vative architectural models, with regard to a form of gentle tourism. The concept is certainly not to preserve the everyday idyll, but through an elaborated strategy create and define a new space for production, events and entertainment, after deposing the
‘transition dust’.
Concept and Organisation: Arch.Sasa Bradic and Arch.David Calas
